Baari Shabazz, one of BrickHouse Book’s authors, just found a copy of the BrickHouse Book’s 1980s best seller, For Colored Guys Who Have Gone Beyond Suicide and Found No Rainbow, selling on eBay for $400. Another is selling for over $200.
Stay tuned for a 4th edition! Every copy of the first 3 editions has been sold–except those few now being sold as rare books. Note: if you see a copy of the first edition–which has a red plastic spiral binding–selling for less than three figures, let BhB know or snag it yourself!
Terri Solomon writes, “In Miriam N. Kotzin’s The Real Deal, readers encounter United States President Abe Featherman, a closeted gay Native American. Now that Election Day has passed and the dust is settling, political junkies can get a fictional fix in this critique of the current American political and social scene.” Read more . . .
Owing to an unusually small number of entries in our annual Stonewall chapbook competition, BhB has decided not to make an award for 2012. The decision was also fueled by the fact that the manuscript which might have been the clear-cut winner was recently published by NorthShore Press, in a slightly revised version, as Beautybeast, Claudia Serea‘s translation of poems by Romanian writer Adina Dabija.
BhB congratulates Claudia Serea and urges the other entrants in the competition for the 2012 chapbook award to submit (with no additional reading fee) updated versions of their manuscripts for consideration in the 2013 competition.
