Wicked Woman Book Prize – Competition Open Soon!

Get your wicked poetry manuscripts ready!  The second annual Wicked Woman Book Prize competition will open for submissions on September 3, 2019, and close on January 3, 2020.  Esteemed poet Katherine E. Young is this year’s judge.  Winners receive $250 and publication of their submitted manuscript by BrickHouse Books.

The entry fee is $10, and submissions can be sent via Submittable.  We offer a mail-in option for accessibility, as we know not all websites are universally designed.

For more information on submission guidelines, the Wicked Woman theme, this year’s judge, and competitions past, please visit our Wicked Woman Book Prize page.

And don’t forget to join us on September 12 for the Chelsea Creek release party at the Arts Club of Washington!  Chelsea Creek by Linda Quinlan was the inaugural winner of the Wicked Woman Book Prize.

  1. I cannot figure out how to send yall an e-mail, but here’s the thing. — A little while ago I submitted, via Submittable,
a poetry mss., from which I had removed the Acknowledgments pages, because so many presses require this.
I hadn’t seen an instruction one way or the other for Brickhouse submissions. Do I need to send the Acknowledgments pages? If so, via what means?

    • Hi Suzanne,

Thank you for your question. All contact can be made through our contact form. It is atypical to include acknowledgements at the first submission stage; usually a press will ask for this after a work is accepted and it’s time to collect the front and back matter for the final publication. Please query us only with what we request and format it according to the current industry standard.

      Cheers,
      Liz – Online Editor
