This division of BrickHouse Books is devoted to the publication of first books by promising poets who have never had a collection of poems of over 30 pages published. Please note that chapbooks do not disqualify poets from being “new” but full-length books do. Chapbooks are 42 pages or fewer. Books are 43 pages and above.
NOTE: Submissions to NPS are currently CLOSED.
Submitting to the New Poets Series imprint is slightly different from submitting directly to BHB.
Submission Requirements
We require the following:
Your Entire Manuscript
A properly formatted manuscript of original poetry, 42-80 pages in length. We only accept .doc or .docx files sent as an email attachment. Do not paste your ms into the body of your email. Make sure your title page includes all necessary contact information: name, address, email, phone number.
A Cover/Query Letter
Tell us about your work, including your intended audience, the length of the work, and other standard query information. Be sure to tell us you are submitting to the New Poets Series imprint.
A $10 Submission Fee

We receive many submissions for NPS, and the staff offers comments on most. Response times vary from a week to several months.
